I was a Software Engineer Intern at Facebook in Summer 2011.
At Facebook, I developed Hive, specifically working on the Metastore. You can see all my contributions to Hive here.
As a side project during nights, weekends, and Hackathons, I improved our internal search for documentation, tools, and other internal media by moving the search backend from Solr to Elasticsearch. I was also Facebook’s Campus Ambassador to Cornell for the ’11-’12 year.
Working at Facebook was a blast. I saw how large engineering teams are organized, and learned many best practices. I tried to meet as many of my fellow interns as possible, and greatly expanded my friend-base and network. I also tried to get a real sense of the startup scene in the Bay, since it was my first experience in there, by going to many events.
